AWARENESS SESSION ON CHILD PROTECTION FOR TEACHERS (JUNE 2024)


Training teachers on child protection and its procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of On June 25, 2024, Scholars Indian Private School, RAK, organized a crucial awareness session focused on child protection, aimed specifically at the teaching staff. This session, led by the School Counsellor, was designed to deepen the understanding of child protection principles and procedures, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination, and violence. The discussion elaborated on the vital role that schools play in child protection. Schools are not just educational environments but also crucial guardians that must implement and uphold child protection policies effectively to ensure the safety and well-being of their students. The session detailed the roles and responsibilities of designated child protection officers within the school. The session emphasized the collective responsibility of the staff in observing, reporting, and acting upon any concerns regarding student safety. Guidelines for maintaining good practice and adhering to a code of conduct were provided. The session covered various types of abuse, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and discussed the signs and indicators that staff should be vigilant about. Recognizing these signs is crucial for early intervention and protecting children from harm. The session underscored the critical importance of child protection in fostering a secure and nurturing environment for students. By educating staff on these vital issues, the school aims to ensure that every member of the community understands their role in safeguarding students. Training teachers on child protection and its procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of Scholars Indian Private School, RAK conducted an awareness session on Child protection and its reporting procedure for the non teaching staff on 20thJune 2024, Thursday at 12 noon by the School Counsellor. The main points of discussion were the term Child Protection, Role of educational Institution in Child Protection, Child protection Officers and their responsibilities, Role of School Staff and Types of Abuse and its reporting Procedure. All the staff was oriented to understand his/her duties towards their student community. TRAINING ON ROBOTIC FOR TEACHERS


Training teachers on child protection and its procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of The IT department participated in a series of workshops focused on robotic projects incorporating AI technology. These workshops were held on May 11, June 6, and June 28, 2024, and were conducted by Mr. Harish from Tachyon IT Consultancy, Dubai. The workshops provided an in-depth exploration of various aspects of robotics and AI integration. Key components of the sessions included Robotic kit components, assembling of the components, programming the device and to explore the different projects that could be designed using the Robotic kit components. The main focus is on projects related to sustainable environment, Iot devices, AI image Classification System, Fraud Detection System, Voice Assistant etc. The workshops were instrumental in enhancing the IT department's capabilities in robotics and AI, equipping participants with the skills to develop innovative projects that address contemporary technological and environmental challenges.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


CPD SESSION & MICRO TEACHING (MAY 2024)


Training teachers on child protection and its procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of Scholars Indian School recently conducted a comprehensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session, followed by a series of micro-teaching demonstrations, aimed at enhancing teaching practices and refining teachers' skills. The CPD session was designed to equip teachers with the latest pedagogical strategies, tools, and techniques to improve classroom instruction and boost student engagement. Key areas of focus included: ? Introduction to new teaching methodologies that accommodate diverse learning styles and promote active learning. ? Effective methods for evaluating student progress and delivering constructive feedback. ? Strategies for creating a positive learning environment and managing classroom dynamics effectively. Following the CPD session, micro-teaching exercises were held to provide teachers with an opportunity to practice and showcase their teaching skills in a controlled setting. During these exercises, teachers prepared short lessons on topics relevant to their subject areas and delivered them to a small group of peers who acted as students. Constructive feedback was provided by both peers and facilitators, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. The CPD session and micro-teaching demonstrations were highly successful in preparing the teaching staff for the upcoming academic year. The feedback and insights gained will be instrumental in further enhancing educational practices. CPD Session on Integrating ICT into teaching and learning – October 7, 2023


Training teachers on child protection and its procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of An informative session was conducted by Mr. Shemeer (IT administrator) on 07 October 2023 on Integrating ICT into teaching and learning using various teaching tools. As education moved from in-person to online and mixed-mode of learning, and with the new technology forcing everyone to resort to virtual classes, teachers need to be equipped with the right tools to meet the expectations of the parents and students. To enable teachers to dissect these challenges, numerous teacher tools have come into existence. As more schools begin to embrace the latest digital infrastructure, teacher tools rose to popularity. Interactive classroom technology tools such as smart boards were one of the first teacher tools. The right tool can do wonders, while an inappropriate tool will make the process more tedious. Therefore, investing in the right communication tools is essential for the development of the school. Various educational apps like snap downloader, vdownloader etc were introduced and explained. He emphasized the importance of downloading YouTube videos from goggle and the merits and demerits of each were discussed by the resource person .He even made familiar the updated version of Microsoft teams, especially for the newly joined teachers. The session was really helpful and interactive. Teachers were able to clear all issues related to online teaching.

Staff Training on Child Protection and its Procedures – August 25, 2023


Training teachers on child protection and its procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions. Child protection training equips educators with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and respond to potential cases of child abuse, neglect, or any other form of harm. The session was conducted by the School Counsellor for the staff on 25 th of August 2023 in the school auditorum at 9.30 am. The objective of the session was to furnish teachers with a concise definition of child protection and its importance in an educational setting. During the session a detailed information on common signs and indicators of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and explained the steps teachers should follow when they suspect abuse or neglect and highlighted the importance of maintaining confidentiality while reporting concerns. In conclusion, the training of teachers in child protection and its associated procedures is of paramount importance within our educational institutions. Staff Training to Address and Prevent Bullying in School– August 25, 2023


The staff are instrumental in promoting safe learning environments, as they are often first to prevent and address violent behavior including bullying in schools. Training teachers to address and prevent bullying in school is crucial for creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. The session was conducted by the School Counsellor for the staff on 25 th of August 2023 in the school auditorum at 9:00am. The goal of the session was providing teachers with a clear understanding of what bullying is. Differentiate between bullying and other forms of conflict or aggression. During the session counsellor emphasize the school’s anti-bullying policy and procedure with teachers and also trained them how to respond to bullying incident. In conclusion, the teacher training program on addressing and preventing bullying in our school is a critical initiative in ensuring the safety, well-being, and academic success of our students. Our teachers have been equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify warning signs, report incidents, and intervene effectively. They are now better prepared to address bullying in all its forms, including cyberbullying, and to foster empathy, inclusivity, and a culture of respect within their classrooms. Training on a Teaching Strategies for students with Special Needs - August 25, 2023


Accommodating students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a regular or mainstream classroom is a fundamental aspect of inclusive education. Being able to effectively support children with special educational needs (SEN) in the classroom is an essential part of any teacher’s job. A session on accommodating SEN students in a normal classroom setting was conducted by the School Counsellor for the staff on 25th of August 2023 in the school auditorum at 10.30 am. The objective of training was to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students. Topics covered during sessions are:- ? Understanding SEN ? Objectives and purpose of Special Education ? Special Education Categories ? Different types of Accommodation and Modifications.


Workshop for Kindergarten teachers – June 17, 2023


Aimed at the students’ achievement and progress, Scholars Indian Private School always prioritize CPD programs among the staff throughout the year. The school community values the work they do and wants them to grow continuously and effectively for the benefit of our children. An interactive session for the kindergarten teachers was organized by the school management, with the faculties of the kindergarten section of Gems Millenium School, Dubai on June 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM. It provided a venue for the teachers to ask questions and share their teaching methodology in relation to the Dubai Inspection Framework.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Training on Kindergarten LMS for teachers


Aimed at the students’ achievement and progress, Scholars Indian Private School always prioritize CPD programs among the staff throughout the year. The school community values the work they do and wants them to grow continuously and effectively for the benefit of our children. An online training session for the Kindergarten teachers was organized by the Learn ware Smart Kindergarten on May 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM. It provided a support to the teachers on standard instructional procedures at the classrooms to deliver lessons effectively integrated with technology.


Abacus Training for Math teachers


For the enhancement and success of basic Arithmetic skills of our students, our school has introduced ‘Abacus Course’ for Grade 2, 3 and 4 for the academic year 2023-24. To serve the purpose, our school has collaborated with Generation Next Learning solution. Mr. Gururaj Hegde, the coordinator and Miss. Reena D’souza, the master trainer conducted a 2-day training session for our staff on 30th and 31st of March 2023. Fire Evacuation Mock Drill by Ministry of Defence, U.A.E


The Civil Defence department of RAK conducted Mock Fire Evacuation drill in the school campus on 24 January 2023. The students moved to the assembly point outside the school campus immediately after the alarm was turned on. The 3 different Assembly points enabled the Volunteers to help the students to smoothly move out of the campus. The teachers and student volunteers supported for the timely evacuation. The Civil Defence department officer Mr. Adel Tanijee educated the staff on causes of Fire and Procedures to be followed in school. He explained what the hazards are during a fire and how we can save life and property. The Principal of Scholars Indian School Mr. Hameed Ali Yahya K M gave an outstanding insight to teachers on collaborative learning. The session really enriched the attendees about different techniques and strategies to be adopted in order to make learning interesting and learners enthusiastic. The detailed session on how to ignite the thoughts and creativities in students were well explained with the help of demo class, PP slides and group discussions. Arabic Language orientation program held on 06.01.2023 Friday in school auditorium, it was handled by Abdul Mujeeb.N (Educational Trainer). The session was discussed about the class room management and following agendas. The agendas of the workshop: ? Class room management ? Good lesson plan ? Group activity. ? Live worksheet etc. He explained the importance of Arabic Language and a good lesson plan. The main objective of this session is how to conduct a child oriented class and also discussed about group activity in class. Arabic teachers from different schools also participated in this session. Session -I
The teachers of Scholars Indian Private School had an informative session on school evaluation by Mr. Hameed Ali Yahya K M (Principal Scholars Indian Private School). The resource person emphasized the importance of school vision and mission. He stressed on the key words of vision and mission, our responsibilities and its impact on students and how this can be incorporated in class room learning. He also showed that mission is a path to achieve vision.

The teachers of Scholars Indian Private School had a lively session on result analysis and International benchmarking by Senior Supervisor Mr. Prasad. T.P. International benchmarking refers to analyzing high performing education systems and identifying ways to improve our own systems based on those findings. He exhibited the current status of student’s achievement in external examinations and areas where improvement is needed.

Teachers of Scholars Indian Private School had an active session on school evaluation by Miss. Preetha M (Vice Principal, Scholars Indian School). The language teachers of Scholars Indian School had an enthusiastic session on Effective classroom teaching by Ms. Asma Siddique (Learning Coach & Induction In-charge, GEMS Westminster, RAK) on September 15, 2022 in the school auditorium. The Resource person emphasized the importance of knowing your student to improve the learning standards in the class. She stressed on the interactive activities to be included in the lessons to enhance learning. INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR NEW TEACHERS


Teacher induction programs help new teachers to become competent and effective professionals in the classroom. Teacher Induction Program is a systematic and comprehensive training scheme for newly hired teachers as part of professional development toward effective teaching and commitment for the profession. CPD Session for Mathematics teachers


On Saturday, 3 rd September 2022, Scholars Indian School organized a workshop for Mathematics teachers on the topic ‘Effective lesson planning’. The workshop was initiated by Mr. Chandran of Modern English School, Dibba, U.A.E. The main topic of the workshop included the creation of effective lesson planning, how to use the plans on time in the classroom, how to differentiate the activities and how to keep the classroom activity more productive. He also discussed the advantages of having differentiated activities as it will result in more student engagement and less discipline issues in the class. He also gave a demo class based on the topic Arithmetic Progression by using different kinds of techniques as discussed in the workshop. Fire Evacuation Training Programme for teachers – Mrs. Ambili Shaji, Teacher & Coordinator


The Health and Wellness Coordinator, Mrs. Ambili Shaji, conducted a session on Safe Evacuation to the teachers of Scholars Indian School on September 03, 2022 in the auditorium. It briefed about the precautions and the guidance to be given to the students on how to act when they listen to the emergency alarm. All teachers must verify that they bring the children safely to the nearest assembly points. They must have a head count and must provide assistance to those students who have physical disabilities. CPD Session for teachers On Effective Lesson Planning


1. Resource Person: Mrs. Fathima Mehnaz (Gulf Asian School, Sharjah)

 

The teachers received an orientation session on ‘How to improve the lesson plan’ and the “Essential elements in a lesson plan’. She focused on heterogenous seating and the 4 C’s. The classes must start with a Starter, moving to Content and concluding with the Plenary. She emphasized that starter activities must be challenging and involving and the content part must be organized and planned well. Open and closed ended questions must be part of the assessment and the outcomes must be Smart, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound. She spoke of the 4 principles i.e, learning is personalized, learning is competency, learning happens anytime and anywhere and students take the ownership. All classes must end with a follow up and leave a scope for research. The session was informative and beneficial for the teachers.

2. Resource Person: Mrs. Powai Varghese (Gulf Asian School, Sharjah)

 

On Saturday, 27th August, Scholars Indian School organized a workshop for Science teachers on the topic 'Effective lesson plan writing'. The workshop was initiated by Mrs. Powai Varghese of Gulf Asian English School, Sharjah. The main topic of the workshop included the creation of effective lesson planning, how to use these plans on time in the classroom, how to differentiate the activities and how classrooms can be more active and productive with the implementation of these effective techniques. She also discussed the advantages of having activities which are differentiated as it will result in more student engagement and less discipline issues in the classroom. She presented various activities which are highly effective in a class of three types of achievers and how each one takes something home and feels accomplished. Awareness on e-Safety & School Infrastructure Management for teacher


Scholars Digital Citizenship Week (May 17 - May 20)

 

A session conducted for the teachers on May 28, 2022 by IT department had thrown light on different arenas of e safety which ensured a safe and fun learning for students. The session started with a 360 degrees narration on school website and the different access buttons through which information regarding scholastic and Co scholastic activities of the school could be available from the parent portal. The session also covered detailed information about the e-safety rules, incident reporting, Microsoft 360, smart board usage and do's and don’ts s of online technology in classroom. Online Safety Awareness for teachers

 

Scholars Digital Citizenship Week (May 16 - May 20) Scholars Indian School conducted an Online Safety Awareness Session for our Staff Members held on Tuesday, 17 May 2022. Session 1 was conducted by Mr. Mohamed Jumaa Al Jneibi, the Enterprise and risk Management Manager of Emirates Safer Internet Society. He spoke comprehensively about Information security, cyber security and confidentiality. He focused on the need to protect and how to prevent potential loss of information. He explained about Social engineering and the ways in which people can encroach and cheat us. Awareness Session for teachers on learning disability disorder

 

Many children may struggle in school with some topics or skills from time to time. When children try hard and still struggle with a specific set of skills over time, it could be a sign of a learning disorder. Having a learning disorder means that a child has difficulty in one or more areas of learning, even when overall intelligence or motivation is not affected The session was conducted by the counsellor on 23rd of April 2022 at 8.am in the school auditorium. The session was open to all the teachers of our school. The goal of the session was to explain children with learning disorder and how to overcome it. Children with L.D may feel frustrated that they cannot master a subject despite trying hard, and may, act helpless, or withdraw. Learning disorders can also be connected with emotional or behavioral disorders, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or anxiety. The combination of problems can make it particularly hard for a child to succeed in school. Diagnosing each disorder properly, the child can get the right kind of help. Teachers can play an important role in collaborating with schools to help a child with learning disorders or other disabilities get the special services they need. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has created a report that describes the roles that healthcare providers can have in helping children with disabilities external icon, including learning disorders. Maintaining a sound physical and mental health is a must to be able to perform to one’s best of capabilities. A session on comprehensive detailing of school, infrastructure, stake holders, clubs, plans, policies, and modus operandi of the school was conducted by the academic counsellor of the school, Mr. Prasad T P, on 17 April 2021. Paediatrics Training for teachers

 

Paediatric training was attended by a group of teachers who are falling under the category of task force and are allocated duties for managing students in the campus. Covid-19: Training for Staff

 

Teaching and non-teaching staff of the school had been given a comprehensive COVID-19 training by the authorized agency approved by KHDA on August 12, 2020.
